New Open Arms Director

New Open Arms Director

February 8, 2017

The Director hiring committee has worked hard for the past few months to ensure that we have identified the best candidate to lead Open Arms Christian Child Development Center into the future. The committee was composed of representatives from Our Savior’s Way and Open Arms, and a member of the Board of Governance, with input from our Senior Pastor Bill Mann and Executive Director of Ministries Tyson Labuhn. After an extensive search and interview process, we are very pleased to announce Ned Waterhouse as our new Director of Open Arms.

Ned Waterhouse has completed a 38 year career with Loudoun County Public Schools. He served as Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services, and for the last 15 years, Deputy Superintendent. Since retiring from LCPS, he has worked for Bankers Life and Casualty and Lowe’s. Ned holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Alfred University in New York. Ned and his wife Joanna are proud members of Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church.

The hiring committee unanimously agreed that Ned is the best candidate for this position. The long and outstanding reputation of Open Arms attracts families and staff in numbers larger than other childcare centers. Ned’s extensive school administrative experience, his background in child psychology, and his knowledge of what children need to succeed in grade school and beyond will ensure that Open Arms remains a superior place of learning and support, both now and in the future. We are confident that Ned will employ both his professional skills from his time with Loudoun County Public Schools and his abiding Christian faith as an active congregational member of Our Savior’s Way to excel in his new position.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all of the Open Arms staff, especially Holly Berry, who stepped in as Interim Director, and the administrative staff for keeping Open Arms running smoothly these past couple of months. We have complete confidence that Holly and the Open Arms staff will continue the outstanding work. Thank you to our Director hiring committee as well, for their tireless efforts in the hiring process and dedication to selecting the best possible candidate.  We look forward to welcoming Ned to the Open Arms family and wish him all the best in his role as Director!
